Does anyone else think the PCT e mail this morning was an insane waste of time and an inappropriate intrusion into our already highly regulated PRIVATE businesses?  Do we not make adjustments for operational reasons every day so that we can continue to see patients?.  Do we really have to be treated like children?  It will get worse - mark my words.

If I was struggling to work around being short staffed the last thing I would need is a b*****dy form to fill in!!

By now you will be aware of the disruption due to the Icelandic volcano ash plume.  The government has now established the Cabinet Office Briefing Room and full Civil Contingences Committee, currently chaired by Gordon Brown.

The Department of Health has asked SHAs and PCTs to undertake an impact analysis by completing a daily situation report by 10.30 each morning.  We would therefore be grateful if you could advise us of the numbers of your staff members who have been affected by this situation and if so, what impact this has on your service delivery.  Please report the following information by 10.30am today:

Usual lumping together of independent contractors without any thought to the relevance of the situation with regard to the individual profession. Very irritating.
