New lenses block blinding glare
Rodenstock has developed a new lens that not only reduces ambient light reaching the eye, it also blocks out dangerous, blinding glare.
Rodenstock polarised lenses are designed to improve everyday vision and increase safety and, in market research, 92% of customers said they preferred them to normal sunglasses lenses.
Debbie Bathgate, lens product manager, said: “everyday glare can be annoying and uncomfortable on the eyes, but when the angle of the reflection is such that it becomes blinding, serious accidents can occur for example when driving.
“Ordinary tinted sunglass lenses can reduce light transmittance but will not stop blinding glare.”
As well as blocking dazzling light, Rodenstock polarised lenses have the added advantage of improving colour and depth perception, along with clarity and contrast. Photographers have used polarised lenses for years to achieve bolder colours, deeper contrast and reduced glare in their images.
