Easyscan demonstrate why SLO scanning is a leap forward from outdated white light photography.

Easyscan SLOEasyscan had a very successful reception to the Live Demonstrations of the SLO Retinal Imaging Scanner providing tomographic imagery on the Grafton Stand who distribute in the UK.

Easyscan received orders on each day for their retinal imager and it is evident that like the US and European markets there has finally been an understanding that SLO confocal technology, fast and accurate through undilated eyes is a step change from white light fundus photography of old providing so much more retinal layer detail and yet simple to use on everyone screening.

Brian Bowles MD Grafton

Pictured by the Easyscan is Grafton’s MD, Brian Bowles who said

“The EasyScan SLO offers significant benefits for the smart practice owner. Our visitors are positively surprised by the high contrast images taken here at the booth without dilation!”

In their live demos on a one to one basis they even found an unknown retinal defect. Simple, inform customer and send images to their smart phone for them to self-refer on their return.

Optimed Announces App That Helps to Improve Patient Loyalty and Generate Referrals

Optimed Ltd. brings CAPTIV8 Share to Optrafair 2017, the revolutionary mobile and tablet app developed to help improve treatment compliance, enhance patient satisfaction and increase number of loyal patients and referrals.

Email communication can improve patient satisfaction, lead to increased patient loyalty and a higher number of referrals. Yet it is traditionally a time-consuming task and most professionals are concerned that emailing patients will bring a significant increase to their workload.

To help you benefit from the advantages of email communication with patients, without increasing the time-investment needed, Optimed have launched the CAPTIV8 Share mobile app.
Discover CAPTIV8 Share, the mobile app that can help you improve patient loyalty and increase the number of patient referrals.

CAPTIV8 Share allows you to email patients with one or several animations either recorded during consultation or selected from the library of over 125 pre-recorded animations. The emails can include document attachments, such as vouchers, and videos available on your YouTube channel.

Select up to 5 videos to include in your follow-up emails, from a library of over 125 animations

You can select one of the existing message templates to save time in sending emails.

There is no limit in the number of mobile devices you can install the app on. Any number of staff members can use the app to improve clinic-patient communication. You can also offer the app to other healthcare professionals who may refer patients to you, e.g. GP surgeries, Pharmacies, etc.

CAPTIV8 Share can help you:

• Improve treatment compliance – emailing patients with video explanations can improve patient understanding and recall of information, such as CLs I&R.

• Reduce marketing cost – it is more cost-efficient to retain existing customers than to attract new ones.

• Increase number of patient referrals - many of those receiving a video recording of their diagnosis will share it with friends and family. When they do so, the animations are shown on a page customised with your clinic details, to help increase brand awareness.

• Increase number of referrals from other healthcare professionals - the easy to use app can be installed on any number of devices.

CAPTIV8 Share works together with CAPTIV8 SOCIAL to save you time and cost in digitally marketing your clinic.

Both apps facilitate sharing eyecare-specific content, including a library of over 125 pre-recorded animations and any animations that you create in CAPTIV8+.

Join us for a demonstration on Stand F125. How will you revolutionise your practice?

‘Optrafair has played an important part in our own growth story’ - Says Zuma who want to show you why.

The Zuma Interview.

Optrafair caught up with Managing Director, Harvey Dhadwar to see what we can expect from Zuma at this year’s show

Q: Could you tell me about the history of the company, and how it was set up? Do you believe you were filling a necessary gap in the market?

A: At the time before setting up we saw there were a number of luxury rimless eyewear ranges that catered the market well. What we identified was the need in the market for a rimless range that would provide a great option for Practices looking for excellent quality but at a more affordable price point.

We spent the next 12 months working on a range to cater for that need, visiting various factories to ensure what we wanted could be made to the quality and specification we had designed.

We launched the new Zuma 100% Titanium rimless range in 2009 at Optrafair.

Q: Where did the passion for frame design come from?

A: My business partner and I have always shared a big interest in fashion, design and business. While I have a marketing and consulting background, he is a qualified Optometrists and we found our skills synergised well to help create a great product to fit the gap in the market.

Q: Have Zuma been involved in many trade shows in the past? What is it about Optrafair that makes the company want to exhibit there?

A: Optrafair is the original UK optics show, the name resonates with the Optics industry, everybody knows Optrafair so it's always been the obvious choice.

When we launched our first Zuma collections at Optrafair. The show has always been regarded as a buying show. It proved so, we managed to open over 100 accounts in 3 days. Then every time we've done Optrafair we've experienced a step level in growth, so Optrafair has played an important part in our own growth story.

Q: Why are exhibitions important to Zuma? Do they help spread the brand name? What are the reactions to the company when it attends a trade show?

A: We tend to be quite proactive at shows. We feel it's a great environment to meet and greet some of our great customers. Exhibitions are an important way to introduce new practices to our products and existing practices to our new products. We have been growing at a steady pace having acquired all the portfolio from award winning French manufacturer Morel, including lines such as Lightec and Oga. This year we will be launching our most recent acquisition, the global designer brand Kenzo. Exhibitions give us a change to connect directly with new and existing customers and show them what's new with us.

Q: Has Optrafair improved over recent years?

A: I feel this year definitely, it appears more and more people are aware of what is in store at this year's Optrafair and the buzz around it seems higher than in recent years.

Optrafair is a show for the industry by the industry, and covering all bases to be a one stop shop for the needs of the industry.

Q: Do you believe there will be a different kind of sale at Optrafair to other trade shows?

A: Yes, it always has been a buying show and draws a diverse spectrum of practices attending from all over the UK due to its 'central' location. This varying demographic is a good fit for us as we have products to meet the needs of various demographics, we generally have something that appeals to almost all Opticians.

Q: What is your opinion of Optrafair’s marketing and branding leading up to the event?

A: This year's campaign has been impressive, the branding and marketing seems to be getting across and I hope that leads to successful 2017 show.

Q: What benefits will Optrafair bring to Zuma?

A: Hopefully we can introduce new customers to our award winning lines and introduce new products to our existing clients as we have lots of exciting releases coming in April.

Q: What can we expect from Zuma at this year’s show?

A: Zuma is showcasing the award winning lines by Morel including Lightec and Oga. We have new releases in Zuma titanium rimless and the excellent but affordable Marius Morel. We are also launching the new designs from global designer Kenzo this spring.

Q: What trends will be sought after in 2017?

A: I believe there is a trend towards metals or composite materials, the vintage retro look is strong. Colours and variety are important, a nod to maximalism.

Q: How does the company manage to stand out from the crowd in such a competitive market?

A: Our ranges are carefully chosen to represent some of the best innovation, design, service and value to the industry. We have products with award winning patents in our leading lines such as Oga and Lightec. They are manufactured by Morel who have over 135 years of experience and know how.

Zuma Eyewear is based in London and work closely with Morel to deliver the highest levels of service to our customers.

Zuma will be exhibiting at stand E50.

One size never fits all, especially when it comes to eyewear. There are too many variables. What’s more, spectacles are no longer merely functional. Increasingly, they are an expression of the wearer’s look, lifestyle, personality, creativity and even mood. This is driving the demand for custom-made eyewear. Recent advances in 3D printing are responding to this demand.

Traditionally, the selected frame and its position of wear were a given. The lens design could only be optimised and customised within the limitations these posed, with potentially adverse effects on vision – a frame-centric approach.

Yuniku, by contrast, uses a vision-centric approach. Launched to wide acclaim at Silmo by HOYA, a key player in ophthalmic lenses, Yuniku takes into account the customer’s facial features and visual requirements, and calculates and determines the ideal position of wear for optimal visual performance. The frame is then designed and 3D printed based on these unique parameters. This approach enables eyewear that is perfectly tailored to the visual and aesthetic needs of the customer, without compromising on style or fit. Yuniku represents a breakthrough in the optical industry because it transforms the way lenses are prescribed.

Globally recognised partners
Yuniku was developed in collaboration with Materialise, a pioneer in 3D printing for over 25 years. To design the base frame collection, HOYA partnered with design studio Hoet, well-known for its THEO creations. Hoet and Materialise previously co-created a collection of 3D-printed frames. Their experience perfectly complements HOYA’s expertise in lens design, materials and coatings.

Yuniku frame collection
The first collection of Yuniku frames features 12 timeless designs in different colours, textures and finishes, complemented by a premium single vision, progressive or indoor lens option. The materials used are bio-compatible, light, impact-resistant and of the highest quality. As Yuniku is an open platform, allowing other designer brands to join, two new frame collections have recently been added: CABRIO by Hoet and WE DDD by Aoyama Optical France.

“Yuniku is an exciting step forward in custom eyewear,” says Jon Warrick, Vice President Global Marketing, Vision Care. “And with the latest additions to the frame collection, wearers have even more opportunities to create designer eyewear as unique as they are. Yuniku also removes the frustration for opticians limited by available stock to offer what their customers really want.”
Félix S. España, Global New Media Manager, Vision Care, adds: “The Yuniku process is fully integrated, for seamless customisation, production and delivery. The customer is involved throughout, from the initial facial scan to the virtual image of what he or she will look like in the selected eyewear, ensuring complete satisfaction with the final result.”

Come to stand B60 for a coffee and to hear all out vision-centic eyewear.

Orasis Practice Management Software

Optrafair banner

Orasis supplies and supports practice management systems for forward-thinking practice owners all over the UK.

Linus Mason, director of Orasis, said, “I’m really proud of how Orasis software has evolved and improved over the past 23 years, I’ve had input from practitioners over the years that has enabled us to write the software to be user-friendly and cater for all types of Independent practices, we are particularly pleased with our new clinical records form.”

Orasis uses the latest Microsoft technologies to ensure a reliable system which aims to deliver fast performance and a stable environment that can be either cloud-based or on-premise.

Orasis is a system that flows easily from section to section.

We receive many compliments about our software, including “it is quick and simple to use, especially when dealing with clients.”

Chris Smith, software developer for Orasis, spoke of the recent upgrades which will be launched at Optrafair 2017.

In the main, there have been further enhancements to the KPI Dashboard and the clinical records.

He believes the advancements to the system which include: improvements to the recall system, security features, low-cost text-messaging, taking multiple tenders on the same payment transaction and scanning which is embedded for those who require a completely paperless system.

These enhancements will bring so many benefits to the practitioner’s business. Smith said: “We understand how busy it is in practice and we know our software will save you time and look more modern in the eyes of your clients.” Orasis will help improve efficiency, standardise processes and enable your practice to communicate better and deliver a first-class service to your patients.

Orasis continues to promote its diary for colour-coded appointment scheduling: It can cater for any number of clinics and appointment times.

Orasis also launched a complete management system for eyecare plans which runs alongside its existing Contact lens and DD scheme.

This will ensure the practice manage their regular income stream. This system can also cater for Minor Eye Condition Schemes , where you can enter the MECS transaction, and then be able to reconcile and manage the payments.

Of course, with Orasis, you can add your MECS patients onto the system WITHOUT a recall date being created, which is a breach of the contract.

Linus Mason concluded “From installation, set-up, training and on-going support we make sure you get the best out of Orasis, we want your business to succeed.”

Independent practice owners who are looking at updating, switching or computerising for the first time are invited to contact Orasis for further information.
